This journey stretches across the northern highlands of Azerbaijan, connecting seven scenic trails through the most remote mountain villages. Traversing alpine meadows and rugged terrains, this trail offers breathtaking views of the Shahdagh and Gizilgaya ranges.

Khinalig: Ancient village at 2150m, home to the Ketish people.
Griz: Located at 2074m on the edge of a deep canyon.
Laza: Nestled at 1870m in the Gusarchai river valley.
Yergikek: The highest village at 2370m on Shahdag slopes.
📅 Itinerary
DAY 1 Khinalig to Galakhudat
Meeting in Baku at 06:30. Drive to Guba and Khinalig. Lunch with locals. Hike 8.7km to Galakhudat village (2211m). Homestay accommodation.
DAY 2 Galaykhudat to Griz
Hike 9km through alpine meadows. Ascend 667m. Arrival at the canyon-side village of Griz (2074m). Dinner and homestay.
DAY 3 Griz to Laza
The longest stretch (14km). Descend 1188m into the Gusarchai valley. Stay in the picturesque Laza village (1870m).
DAY 4 Laza to Kuzun
Hike 7.6km between the Shahdag and GizilGaya plateaus. Discover the Lezgi culture in Kuzun village (1385m).
DAY 5 Kuzun to Yerghikek & Return
Steep 8km hike to the highest village, Yergikek (2380m). Off-road transfer to Laza and return drive to Baku.
